Release Date Oct 2017
Omega is has announced the October, 2017 release of a new Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean model known as “Big Blue”. Featuring a large 45.5mm blue case composed entirely of ceramic, Omega has introduced a Seamaster Planet Ocean men’s watch manufactured with a material lighter than titanium or steel, yet sturdy, solid, and resistant to surface scratches.
At Baselworld 2017, Omega surprised watch enthusiasts by bringing a five-piece “puzzle” to demonstrate how the Planet Ocean case is crafted, starting from a solid block of ceramic. Omega also brought along a number of other pieces used in the production of the bezel and case-back of the timepiece, demonstrating to the horological community that the case is fully ceramic.
The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 215.92.46.22.03.001 boasts an impressive water resistance of 600m (2000ft). The numbers on the bezel are comprised of Liquidmetal, making them extremely sharp and easily legible. This timepiece is powered by the Omega Caliber 8906 self-winding automatic Master Chronometer Certified movement, ensuring the utmost accuracy and reliability.
Additionally, this watch is equipped with an anti-magnetic feature, a GMT second time-zone feature, and helium escape valve which will protect the watch when diving. The watch is affixed to a blue rubber strap with orange stitching, giving it the appearance of a textile strap fitted securely on the wrist.
