Hugh Jackman has confirmed that 2017’s upcoming Wolverine 3 will be the last time the actor straps on his claws as the titular mutant. During his appearance on the Dr. Oz show, Jackman responded “This will be my last one,” when asked about it.

“It just felt like it was the right time to do it. And let’s be honest, 17 years. I never thought in a million years it would last, so I’m so grateful to the fans for the opportunity of playing it. … I kind of have in my head what we’re going to do in this last one. It just feels like this is the perfect way to go out.”
Hugh Jackman first exploded onto the Hollywood scene with 2000’s X- Men, appearing as the savage and wise-cracking Wolverine. A mutant with a mysterious past and savage temperament, Wolverine has since become the franchise’s most iconic character. With 2017’s Wolverine 3 he will have appeared in 8 films over a 17 year period.
