Been to Baselworld, SIHH? Subscribe to the great watch news outlets like aBlogtoWatch.com and Haute Time? You might be surprised to find a few big name celebrities that share a common interest with you. They might even provide friendly competition to your watch collection. Below is a list of five celebrities closely connected to the world of luxury watchmaking:
5. John Mayer
A watch-lover through and through, this Grammy-winning musician has long studied the mechanics behind modern day watches, and lives by one simple rule… He only buys the ones he means to wear. His watch game is respectable, and he has even acted as a casual watch consultant for the likes of Drake and Aziz Ansari [2]. Among the many timepieces he owns are the iconic Rolex Submariner Date 116610 (pictured) and an IWC Big Pilot Ref 5002.

4. Jay-Z
The Jigga Man. Rap superstar, business mogul, husband to Beyonce… What else can Jay-Z boast about? His lavish assortment of luxury watches. Among the timepieces in his collection are a Rolex Day Date (pictured), a TW Steel watch, and a Richard Mille DLC tourbillon. The music pioneer has also developed a reputation for gift-giving; gifts that tick, to be exact. Just ask his sound engineer, who was allegedly rewarded with a Rolex GMT Master for not leaking the singer’s “Drop the Throne” album in 2011… It pays to know a celebrity. It pays even more to be loyal to one.
