The reissued, modernized TAG Heuer Autavia CBE2110.BA0687 piqued the interest of watch collectors and enthusiasts alike this year at Baselworld 2017. This TAG Heuer Autavia is offered on both a “beads of rice” style stainless steel bracelet (CBE2110.BA0687) and a brown calfskin leather strap (CBE2110.FC8226). These timepieces thoughtfully pay homage to the classic design of the original 1960s Autavia models and are powered by the modern in-house Heuer 02 chronograph caliber self-winding automatic movement.

On November 1, 2017, TAG Heuer announced a yet-to-be-released Tag Heuer Autavia Jack Heuer Special Edition watch. This new watch was created to celebrate the 85th birthday of Jack Heuer, the great-grandson of the TAG Heuer founder. The Autavia was the first watch released during Jack Heuer’s tenure as CEO of the brand and was first introduced in 1962. The timepiece will be limited to 1932 units (Jack Heuer’s birth year) and Phillips has announced that the first of these new Autavia models, #1 of 1932, will be offered as the only modern watch at their upcoming “Heuer Parade” auction on November 11, 2017.

The new 42mm Jack Heuer Edition timepiece is identical to the 2017 Baselworld-released Autavia model in terms of size and function, but differentiates itself aesthetically in several ways. The new Jack Heuer Autavia features a high-contrast panda dial for increased legibility against a brushed silver sunray finish, and a trio of black sub-dials. The luminescence has been changed from the vintage-inspired “fauxtina” lume to white SuperLuminova. Additionally, the bezel of the Jack Heuer Edition displays both 12-hour markings and an elapsed time scale, while the original 2017 Autavia features a simpler 12-hour display.

Proceeds from the auction for the new Jack Heuer Special Edition Autavia will be donated to the Save the Children charity, which advocates for children’s rights in over 120 countries. Although the official release date for this new timepiece has not yet been announced, it is currently it is available via pre-order.
