Latest & Greatest: Rolex Cosmograph Daytona 116500LN

The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona 115600LN timepiece is a highly sought-after model on and coveted by watch enthusiasts.  The 116500LN model comes in both a white dial and black dial version, and each features a scratch and corrosion resistant black cerachrom bezel.

1963 Rolex Daytona

The first Rolex Daytona model was made in 1963 and wasn’t nearly as popular as this newer model or the subsequent editions, but it began the legacy that has continued for over 50 years.  It wasn’t until the 1988 Rolex Daytona was released with an automatic movement (as opposed to the first Daytona’s manual winding movement) that the timepiece began to gain the cult classic status it has today.  The 1988 Rolex Daytona 16520 had a 40mm case size, the same as the new 116500LN models, and upgraded to a sapphire crystal which was not on the original 1963 Daytona.

1988 Rolex Daytona

The history of the Daytona legacy does not begin and end with the 1988 model; in fact, the version released in 2000 (reference 116520) was groundbreaking for Rolex.  This model featured the Rolex in-house caliber 4130 movement, which was the first Rolex-manufactured automatic chronograph movement.  It was this Rolex Daytona model that truly captured the hearts of watch collectors and the general population alike.

Stylistically, the new Rolex Daytona 116500LN models do not differ significantly from the older iconic models.  The cerachrom bezel material is new on this model and the white dial option has proven to be very popular among Rolex enthusiasts.  Rolex has stayed true to the classic appearance of the original beloved Daytona models on these new Daytona Cosmograph 116500LN models.  The Rolex Daytona Cosmograph is the perfect combination of modernized technology and retro aesthetics.
